Our Project

ASEM Folktales is the outcome of the project "Culturetelling: Anthology of ASEM Folk Tales."

"Culturetelling: Anthology of ASEM Folk Tales" promotes cultural diversity and is a journey through the literary heritage of Asian and European societies. We collect and share traditional stories and folk tales from around the ASEM region and re-tell them in visual and audible ways. These stories are the heartbeat of our cultures. They capture traditional beliefs, customs and knowledge and hand them over to the next generation to learn from and further develop their meanings.

The project aims to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4: ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

4th ASEF Youth Leaders Summit

ASEM Folktales is a part of the 4th ASEF Young Leaders Summit, organized by Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF).

The ASEF Young Leaders Summit (ASEFYLS) is held as the official youth event in support of Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summits. It connects young people with the Heads of States and Governments of 51 Asian and European countries. Also, it is a thought and action arena for young people with leadership development and community engagement.

The fourth summit in 2021 supports the 13th ASEM Summit. Its 13 out of 189 delegates team up as ASEM Folktales Team.
